| Bion has vast experience and expertise in supply, installation & commissioning of gas based Fire suppression system whether it is a CO2, Argon, Inergen or FM200 based systems. Bion's capability in design, execution, commissioning and support for FM200 systems adhering to the NFPA Standards has been acknowledged by clients especially for their data centre applications.
Types of Fire Suppression System
FM-200
FM-200 â is the commercial name for Heptafluoropropane, CF 3CHFCF 3, and is a Hydrofluoro carbon belonging to the same class of compounds used in refrigerants, but with Zero Ozone depletion potential . It is produced and patented by the Great Lakes Chemical Corporation, USA . The FM-200® agent is stored in cylinders as a liquid and pressurized with nitrogen, saving huge amounts of storage space.
FM-200 fire suppression system discharges as a gas, leaves no residue and doesn't require costly clean-up. FM-200 systems reach extinguishing levels in 10 seconds or less. When fire is extinguished this quickly, it means less damage, lower repair costs, and an extra margin of safety for people and less disruption of business. FM200 is a clean agent – it has no collateral damage on the equipments in the hazard area, in case of a discharge.
Carbon Dioxide Fire Extinguishing System
Carbon dioxide is a chemically neutral, colorless, and odorless gas about one and half time heavier than air. Carbon dioxide Extinguishing System utilises high pressure seamless steel cylinders in which Carbon dioxide is pressurised and stored in liquid form at 58.6 bars (850 psi) at 21 deg C (70 deg F).
Carbon dioxide acts by depleting oxygen concentration in the protected space to a point below the level necessary to support combustion. It provides a blanket of heavy gas that reduces the oxygen content of the atmosphere to a point where combustion is not sustainable.
SALIENT FEATURES OF CARBON DIOXIDE AS A FIRE EXTINGUISHENT
- Clean and effective.
- Electrically safe.
- Carbon dioxide is electrically non-conductive, hence safe for electrically charged installations.
- Non-corrosive.
- Hence safe for equipment.
- Broad spectrum of fire effectiveness
- Reduces Downtime.
- Long term commercial availability.
Inergen
It is blend of naturally available gases: N 2 52 %, Argon - 40 %, Co 2 -8 %. It is produced and patented by the Ansul Incorporated, USA.
Oxygen levels in the hazard area are bought below 14 % by creation of an inerting atmosphere, so that the fire does not get sufficient O 2 for combustion.
INERGEN systems are environment-friendly, people-safe agent boasts ZERO ozone depletion potential, ZERO global warming potential, and ZERO atmospheric lifetime.
Argon
Also Known as IG- 55.It is blend of naturally available gases: N 2 - 50 %, Argon - 50 %
